Our Mission
TLC Humane Society is dedicated to providing compassionate care for dogs and cats by facilitating adoptions and promoting responsible pet ownership in our community. We believe in creating positive outcomes through support and education.
A Legacy of Care
Founded in 1977, we have spent over 40 years saving animals throughout North Georgia. As a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we operate as Dahlonega’s only no-kill shelter, relying entirely on the generosity of our supporters and the community to continue our life-saving work.
Our Shelter Environment
Our facility sits on 5.87 acres of beautiful property designed to help animals thrive while they wait for their forever homes. Residents enjoy three dog parks, walking trails, dedicated cat rooms, and specialized housing like The Ruff House and the Carver Canine Castle for our larger dogs.
The Joy of Adoption
We are committed to finding the perfect match between our animals and their new families. Because we believe in the lifelong commitment of pet ownership, we guide every potential adopter through a thoughtful process—including character references and meet-and-greets—to ensure every adoption is a successful, joyful partnership for years to come.
