The Humane Society of the Ochocos is dedicated to creating a community responsible for animals by providing shelter to those in need and finding them loving, permanent homes. We strive to ensure every companion animal in our care is treated with respect and every lost animal is successfully reunited with its owner.
Our History
Founded in 1995 by Gladys Logsdon and Donna Whitcomb, our organization has grown alongside the local population to meet the increasing needs of Crook County. In 2006, we proudly became the first animal shelter in Central Oregon to adopt a no-kill philosophy, ensuring that our local animal lovers can rest assured that their shelter is a safe haven.
How We Help
Operating from our shelter on Tom McCall Road, we provide a safe, compassionate environment for strays and abandoned animals while working diligently to improve companion animal welfare. Our dedicated team and community partners provide essential support, including spay and neuter services, medical care, and unique enrichment opportunities like our Hounds Around Town program. By promoting responsible pet ownership, we aim to ensure every owner in our community has access to the resources they need to keep their pets happy and healthy.

4/7 - Humane Society brings spay and neuter clinics to Central Oregon this month
Veterinary outreach clinics are coming to locations across Central Oregon this April, offering spay and neuter services by appointment. Free microchips will be included with scheduled surgeries.
