The Wood County Humane Society exists to be a community leader providing services and resources that enrich the relationship between animals and humans through advocacy, education, and animal welfare. Our History and Community
Founded in 1904, our organization has long been committed to the well-being of domesticated animals. Since the establishment of the Minniebelle Conley Shelter in 1988, we have served as a private, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting both the pets and people of our local community.
How We Provide Care
Our devoted team of staff and volunteers works hard to provide the best possible care for the animals in our facility. Pets in our care, which include cats, dogs, and the occasional pocket pet, receive necessary medical attention from our shelter veterinarian and are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Beyond our shelter walls, we also provide vital programs such as food assistance for local residents and temporary safe havens for pets of owners fleeing domestic violence.
