Pope Memorial Humane Society – Cocheco Valley (PMHS-CV) is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care and shelter for animals while fostering a more humane community through education and advocacy. Our Story
Our commitment to animal welfare is deeply rooted in our community, supported by the generous legacy of Lyman Pope Jr., a lifelong animal lover who helped turn the dream of our modern facility in Dover, New Hampshire, into a reality. We are proud to serve as a community-funded nonprofit that acts as a vital safety net for over 1,000 animals each year, ranging from strays to owner-surrendered pets.
How We Care
Our facility at 221 County Farm Road serves as a dedicated resource center where we prioritize the health and wellbeing of our residents. Beyond providing shelter, we offer essential services like low-cost spay and neuter clinics, a pet food pantry, and specialized behavior training to ensure pets and their families can thrive together. Every animal in our care receives professional medical attention and enrichment as they wait to find their forever homes.
