Our Mission

The Animal Care Shelter for Kent County serves the Eastern Shore and beyond by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need. We are dedicated to promoting compassion and responsibility through advocacy, education, and accessible community services.

Our Story and Community

Founded in 1962 as the Humane Society of Kent County, our organization has grown alongside the needs of our community. After decades of service, we moved into our current, purpose-built facility in 2022, which features five acres of space and a dedicated medical suite to better serve the hundreds of cats, dogs, and small mammals that come through our doors each year.

As Kent County's only open-admission shelter, we are committed to providing medical attention, nutrition, and love to every animal until they find their perfect home. We take pride in our no-kill approach, which means we work tirelessly to save all healthy and treatable animals regardless of their breed, how long they stay, or the space we have available.
