At Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals (OFOSA), we are dedicated to improving animal welfare by addressing the critical overpopulation of homeless dogs and cats in our community. We believe in providing every animal with the medical care and love they deserve as they wait for their forever homes.
Our Story
Founded in 2002 around a kitchen table, OFOSA has grown from a small group of passionate volunteers into a respected 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Today, we are proud to be a leader in animal rescue, having helped over 21,200 animals find loving families since our inception.
How We Help
We operate as a foster-based rescue, meaning the majority of our animals live in homes with dedicated foster families rather than in a traditional facility. This approach allows us to learn each animal's unique personality while ensuring they are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and fully evaluated for health and temperament before adoption. Our team is supported by skilled medical staff and hundreds of volunteers who help us provide high-quality care for every animal in our system.
