Friends of Michigan Animals Rescue provides a safe haven for cats and dogs in need, offering care, compassion, and the opportunity to find loving, permanent homes. We are dedicated to educating our community on responsible pet ownership and celebrating the unbreakable bond between people and their animal companions.
Founded in April 2003 by Pete and Marcy LaFramboise, FMAR began with a vision to help animals in need. Over the past 20 years, our rescue has grown from a single building into a 6.5-acre facility designed to provide specialized care for our residents.
Our facility includes the Cat Haven for our feline residents, a dedicated Dog Retreat that houses up to 24 dogs, and an isolation building for specialized care and local strays. With the support of six employees and over 100 dedicated volunteers, we focus on providing a compassionate, high-quality environment for every animal while they wait for their new families.
We believe in finding the perfect match to ensure a successful, lifelong connection for both the pet and your household. Our team works closely with you to understand your lifestyle, exercise needs, and home environment, ensuring that each adoption is safe, healthy, and built to last. We are here to guide you through the process, providing medical records and helpful pet tips to give your new friend the best possible start.
Whether you are ready to welcome a new companion or want to support our mission through volunteering, fostering, or donations, there are many ways to get involved. We invite you to visit our adoptable animals page or come see us during our Saturday drop-in hours to meet the amazing cats and dogs currently in our care.
