Founded in 2011, Burien C.A.R.E.S. began when local residents envisioned a more personalized approach to animal welfare in our area. Since then, we have grown from a small office into a dedicated, boutique brick-and-mortar facility, made possible by the incredible support and unity of the Burien, Federal Way, and Des Moines communities.

How We Provide Care

As a non-profit, no-kill shelter, we prioritize the health and happiness of the over 1,000 animals we care for each year. We work tirelessly to provide compassionate, individual attention in our shelter environment, maintaining an impressive 65% return-to-owner rate. Our dedicated team of employees and volunteers ensures each animal is provided with high-quality care while they wait for their forever families.
