The Brookhaven Animal Rescue League is dedicated to the humane care of shelter animals while actively contributing to our community through responsible pet ownership, public health initiatives, and the strengthening of the human-animal bond.
Our Story
Since our incorporation in 1981, BARL has served as a passionate advocate for animals across Lincoln, Franklin, and Copiah counties. What began as an all-volunteer effort has grown into a professional organization that has positively impacted the lives of thousands of animals, proving that dedicated community support can drive meaningful change.
How We Care
We take pride in our professional management and modern facilities, including our recently upgraded cat room designed for comfort with stainless steel enclosures and sun-filled porches. Beyond daily care, we manage our population through a combination of shelter-based support and initiatives like our Home to Home program, which minimizes stress for animals by facilitating adoptions without unnecessary shelter transitions.
