The Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter is dedicated to providing excellent care for our animal guests while protecting the public and promoting responsible pet guardianship. We strive to create a better community for all by balancing our commitment to animal welfare with a philosophy of rehabilitation through education.
Since opening our doors in April 2003, we have proudly served the Connecticut shoreline and surrounding areas. Hundreds of displaced animals come through our doors each year, and we are grateful for the ongoing support from the Town of Branford and our dedicated volunteers who make our work possible.
We are much more than a traditional shelter, offering a wide array of services including rehabilitation for abused or neglected animals, educational programs, and community resources like our pet food pantry. Our team works hard every day to provide the time, medical attention, and care necessary to prepare our animals for their next chapter in a forever home.
We believe that adoption is the start of a beautiful, lifelong partnership, and we are committed to ensuring every animal finds the right home. Our team carefully reviews every application to make the best possible match for both the adopter and the animal, as we want to see every pet thrive in a loving environment.
We invite you to come visit our residents, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas, at our facility in Branford. You can browse our current adoptable friends online or stop by the shelter during our public hours to learn more about our process and how you can get involved.
