The mission of Centre County PAWS is to promote animal welfare and safety with compassion through adoption, sheltering, education, and community assistance. We are dedicated to building a compassionate Centre Region where animals thrive.
Our History and Values
Established in 1980, Centre County PAWS has spent over 40 years serving our community as an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. We enthusiastically embody our four core values: compassion, generosity, open communication, and responsible practices.
How We Help
We are a member-supported organization featuring a dedicated team of over 20 paid staff members and hundreds of active volunteers. By providing high-quality care, medical treatment, and a safe shelter environment, we ensure that every animal has the time and support needed to find their perfect new home. Our network is strengthened by the incredible generosity of our foster families who provide love and observation skills in a home setting.

4/1 - Centre County Commissioners Donate $1,000 to PAWS for Dog Rescue - State College Today
The Centre County Board of Commissioners approved a $1,000 donation to the Centre County PAWS shelter in State College, Pennsylvania to support the emergency care of 43 dogs that were recently rescued from a local home in a suspected hoarding situation. The dogs were surrendered to the shelter in March following a humane investigation by the Centre County Sheriff's Office, and officials praised PAWS' rapid response to the crisis.
