The Bitty Kitty Brigade is a dedicated foster-based rescue focused on saving orphaned neonatal kittens in the Twin Cities area. We strive to improve survival rates for these tiny lives by partnering with local shelters and rescue organizations to provide expert, compassionate care.
Founded in 2018 by Joan Barrett and Mandy Dwyer, our 501(c)3 non-profit was born from a clear need to support the most vulnerable: kittens aged 0-5 weeks who are not yet eating on their own. Since our inception, we have grown into a purely volunteer-run organization funded entirely by the generosity of our supporters, ensuring every kitten receives the high-quality nutrition and medical attention they deserve.
Because we do not have a traditional shelter facility, all of our kittens are raised in nurturing foster homes throughout the Twin Cities metro. This environment allows them to receive personalized attention, socialization, and constant care as they grow until they are ready for their forever homes at 10 weeks of age. We also manage a community-focused Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, The Birth Control Brigade, which works to humanely end the cycle of unwanted litters in our neighborhoods.
We believe adoption is a lifelong, joyful commitment, and we prioritize finding the right fit for both our kittens and your household. By requiring kittens to be adopted in pairs—unless there is another young companion already in your home—we ensure each cat has the social support they need to thrive. Our adoption process is designed to be a transparent and collaborative experience that sets every family up for long-term success.
