Our History and Purpose
Founded in 1999, Second Chance has grown from a humble animal shelter into one of New England’s largest animal welfare organizations. We are dedicated to addressing the root causes of pet overpopulation, suffering, and abuse by providing cutting-edge services and a model for responsible animal husbandry.
How We Help
We believe in helping pets in every way possible. Beyond our Adoption Center in East Brookfield, we operate Community Veterinary Hospitals in North Brookfield, Southbridge, Springfield, and Worcester to provide high-quality, accessible care for all. Whether through our spay/neuter services, pet food pantry, or educational outreach, we are working to support a healthy, happy pet community.

Our team of dedicated counselors reviews every adoption survey on a case-by-case basis to ensure a successful, lasting bond between pets and their new families. Because we prioritize the needs of each individual animal, our process is designed to support a smooth transition into your home.
