Our Mission
Animal Lifeline of Iowa is a dedicated no-kill shelter committed to providing care, temporary shelter, and the promotion of positive long-term pet guardianship for special needs cats and dogs. Our goal is to ensure that no animal is ever left behind or euthanized simply because they need extra care.

Founded over three decades ago, we are Central Iowa’s only animal shelter specifically focused on special needs animals. We proudly serve the entire state, providing a vital safety net for cats and dogs that are handicapped, injured, abused, pregnant, or orphaned.
Our Care Model
As a specialized no-kill rescue, we rehabilitate animals who face higher risks in traditional shelter environments. Every animal in our care receives comprehensive veterinary treatment, including vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and specialized medical support, ensuring they are healthy and ready for their next chapter.
