Our Mission
Longmont Humane Society is a 501(c)3 private, non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of animals, with a core mission of caring, serving, and educating to improve the lives of companion animals. We believe it is our responsibility to safeguard the physical and behavioral well-being of the animals in our care as well as those in our community.
Our History
Established in 1972 as an independent non-profit, we have spent decades evolving to meet the needs of the Longmont area. From our early days as part of the Boulder County Humane Society to the construction of our current 58,000 square foot facility, the Allen Center, we have remained committed to providing high-quality care for thousands of animals every year.
How We Care
As a Socially Conscious™ shelter, we prioritize best practices in animal welfare, ensuring every dog, cat, and small mammal receives nutritious food, medical care, and daily exercise. Beyond the shelter, our foster program allows over 1,100 animals annually to receive individualized care in loving homes while they await adoption. We are truly more than a shelter, offering vital community resources like low-cost veterinary services, pet pantry assistance, and behavioral support.

We are proud to maintain a 97% live release rate, reflecting our commitment to successful, long-term placements. Our team provides behavioral guidance through the lifetime of any dog adopted from us, ensuring you feel confident and supported as a new pet parent.
