The Belleville Area Humane Society improves the lives of animals in our community through adoption, humane education, and community outreach. We believe in showing up with radical compassion to create a more inclusive and accessible future for pets and the people who love them.
Since 1959, we have been a dedicated presence in our community, helping thousands of dogs and cats find their forever homes. As a 100% donor-funded 501(c)(3) non-profit, we rely on the incredible generosity of our neighbors to continue this life-changing work.
We are a limited-admission shelter, meaning we never euthanize for space or time constraints. Our proactive approach focuses on keeping pets in their homes through resources like our food pantry and vaccine clinics, while our dedicated staff ensures every animal in our care receives medical attention, vaccinations, and love until they are ready to meet their new family.
Our adoption process is designed to be simple and joyful, focusing on matching you with a companion who fits your lifestyle. Our placement team is here to support you with helpful tips and guidance, ensuring your new family member settles in beautifully. Because we prioritize health and well-being, every pet is spayed or neutered, microchipped, and health-checked before joining your home.
We invite you to visit our shelter in Belleville to meet our adoptable pets in person. Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in fostering, or want to learn more about our programs, we look forward to welcoming you to the BAHS family. Together, we are building a kinder, more compassionate world one paw at a time.
