Paws for Life is dedicated to helping lost or unwanted animals by providing them with a safe haven until they can be matched with their forever families. We are committed to the intelligent and humane treatment of all animals in our care.
Our journey began in 1978 when a group of eight passionate individuals recognized the urgent need to protect Pueblo’s abandoned and vulnerable animals. Since our official incorporation as a non-profit organization in 1981, we have operated as a no-kill shelter, relying entirely on the generosity of our community to save thousands of lives.
We pride ourselves on our state-of-the-art facility on Pueblo’s West Side, which features the Sandra and Clyde Young wing. This space holds a prestigious LEED Platinum Certification, reflecting our board’s commitment to the highest green building standards and, most importantly, providing a healthy, comfortable, and sustainable environment for our animals while they wait for their new homes.
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and our process is designed to set both our animals and their new families up for long-term success. Our dedicated staff works closely with potential adopters, offering counseling to ensure every placement is a perfect, lasting match. We value the time and care taken in these introductions, as every animal that passes through our doors deserves a stable and loving future.
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to browse our adoptable pets online or visit our shelter to experience firsthand the work we do. Together, we can continue to provide second chances and build a more compassionate community for every four-legged friend.
