Homeward Animal Shelter is a community-funded, non-profit organization dedicated to a simple, powerful mission: Rescue. Shelter. Protect. Rehome. We strive to provide a second chance at happiness for animals in need while educating our community on the importance of kind, loving treatment for all creatures.
A Legacy of Care
Since 1966, we have been committed to bringing pets and people together in our community. Over the past several decades, we have proudly placed over 44,000 animals into lifelong, loving homes.
How We Operate
Located in the Yunker Farm Park in North Fargo, our small, dedicated shelter serves as the heart of our operations. Because we operate as a community-focused organization, 70-80% of our animals are cared for in foster homes, which provides a comfortable and nurturing environment while they await their forever families. This unique blend of shelter-based care and a robust foster network allows us to give every animal the individualized attention they deserve.

By learning about your family dynamics and lifestyle, our adoption counselors ensure that every placement is a success story. We are deeply committed to preventing animal overpopulation, which is why all our animals aged 6 months or older are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
