The Center for Animal Health & Welfare is a dedicated, life-saving facility committed to providing a safe, healthy environment for Northampton County's homeless pets. We strive to find loving, permanent homes for every animal in our care, ensuring each pet receives the compassion they deserve.
Our History and Commitment
Formed in 1913 as the Northampton County SPCA, we have evolved into a private, non-profit organization that has proudly served our community for over a century. In 2003, we made a landmark commitment to become a no-kill shelter, focusing our resources on providing quality care and increasing adoption success for every animal that walks through our doors.
How We Care for Our Animals
We operate as a safe haven for animals in need, utilizing both our physical shelter and a vital foster program to provide the best possible environment for our rescues. Our foster families play a crucial role by providing calm, quiet spaces for pregnant moms, vulnerable puppies, and animals needing extra socialization. We never set a fixed time limit on our animals; instead, we care for them for as long as they remain adoptable.
