Our Mission
The Humane Society of Forsyth County is a dedicated, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to rescuing homeless cats and dogs while placing them into loving, permanent homes. We advocate for the humane treatment of all animals and work tirelessly to promote responsible pet ownership throughout our community.
A Legacy of Compassion
Since 1975, we have proudly served the people and pets of Forsyth County, helping more than 30,000 animals find their furever families over the past five decades. As an independent, privately funded organization, we rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters, donors, and community members to sustain our vital mission.
Our Care Model
As one of the largest no-kill shelters in the region, we provide a safe haven where every animal receives food, medical care, and plenty of love while waiting for their new family. We believe in providing each dog and cat with a high quality of life, and our dedicated team ensures they are physically and mentally healthy during their stay with us.

Born deaf and blind, newborn kittens are extraordinarily dependent and especially susceptible to disease and infection.
7/10 - Forsyth County partnership helps pets stay with owners
Forsyth County organizations like the Humane Society and Animal Services provide free pet food to residents in need, helping prevent difficult choices between feeding pets or families and reducing pet surrenders. These efforts ease financial burdens and keep pets with their owners instead of shelters.
