Our mission is to provide shelter and comfort to animals in need on their path to finding loving, lifetime homes while delivering vital animal-related services to our community. We are dedicated to ensuring every animal brought to us has a chance at a long, happy life.
Founded in the 1970s by a small group of passionate individuals, the Morgan County Humane Society has grown from a grassroots effort into a vital community resource. In 1998, we established our current Martinsville facility, which we have continuously improved with a cattery, outdoor kennels, exercise runs, and dedicated spaces for small dogs and puppies.
We operate a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that combines physical shelter care with a dedicated foster network to support animals in transition. By utilizing foster homes, we minimize stress, support healing for medical cases, and increase our capacity to care for those most in need. Whether in our shelter or a foster home, every animal receives the care and attention they deserve until they find their perfect match.
At MCHS, our goal is to match potential adopters with a companion best suited to their lifestyle, interests, and home environment. We believe that adopting a pet is a beautiful, life-changing partnership that brings immense joy to both the human and the animal. When you adopt from us, you gain a new best friend and join a community committed to lifetime pet support.
Are you ready to meet your purrfect match? We invite you to browse our current list of available dogs, cats, and small animals on our website or visit us at our Martinsville location.
