The Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter is dedicated to strengthening the human-animal bond by providing compassionate and high-quality care, education, and resources to our community. We believe every animal deserves a chance to find a loving home.
Established as a nonprofit in 2007 and opening our doors in 2009, we have grown to become Montana’s largest animal shelter. While we work closely with the City of Billings, we are an independent 501(c)(3) organization that relies on the generosity of our supporters to provide a safe haven for over 5,000 animals each year.
We pride ourselves on providing a compassionate, ever-evolving environment that prioritizes the health and well-being of every pet in our care. Our model combines high-quality on-site shelter care with a dedicated network of foster families, ensuring that animals receive the individualized attention they need before finding their forever homes. Through innovative partnerships and programs, we are constantly working to improve our lifesaving capacity.
We believe in finding the perfect match for both you and your new companion. Our team is here to guide you through the process, from filling out an application to meeting your potential pet in our neutral meet-and-greet yards. We strive to make adoption a joyous, transparent experience that sets your new family member up for a lifetime of success.
Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in fostering, or looking to volunteer your time, there are many ways to make a difference at YVAS. We invite you to visit our facility in Billings, explore our available pets online, or reach out to us to learn more about how you can join our mission of kindness. We cannot wait to help you find your new best friend.
