The Humane Society of Wilkes is an independent, volunteer organization dedicated to reducing the number of homeless, unwanted, and neglected companion animals in Wilkes County, NC. We are committed to fostering a community where every pet has the chance to thrive in a loving home.
Founded in 1996, we have spent decades working to prevent suffering and improve the quality of life for animals in our region. We serve as a vital resource for pet owners and prospective adopters alike, promoting responsible care through community programs and advocacy.
While we are currently in the planning and fundraising stages to build our own dedicated animal shelter, our work continues through a robust, volunteer-led foster network. Our foster homes provide a safe, nurturing haven for pets until they find their perfect forever families. Additionally, we work hand-in-hand with Wilkes County Animal Services and local veterinarians to coordinate care and adoption opportunities for pets in need.
Adoption is a beautiful partnership that enriches both the life of the animal and your own. When you choose to adopt from us or through our partners, you are providing a second chance to a deserving companion. We take great care to ensure our pets are healthy and ready for their new lives, with adoption fees covering essential veterinary services like spay/neuter, vaccinations, and microchipping.
We invite you to be part of our compassionate community by meeting our adoptable cats and dogs today. Whether you are ready to open your heart to a new friend, looking to volunteer, or interested in supporting our programs, there are many ways to make a difference.
