The Humane Society of Pagosa Springs is dedicated to providing a safe haven for animals in need, promoting successful adoptions, and fostering a community where every cat and dog receives humane treatment and a loving home.
Since 1984, we have served Archuleta County, growing from a modest beginning fueled by community passion into the dedicated facility we operate today. Our unwavering commitment is that we do not euthanize animals based on shelter capacity or length of stay, and we are proud of our track record of placing at least 95% of our animals into forever homes.
We operate as a private, nonprofit organization with a specialized animal shelter at 465 Cloman Boulevard, where every animal is treated with compassion and provided the individualized care they deserve. Whether our residents are with us for a few days or many months, we spend whatever time, money, and energy it takes to ensure their well-being. By exploring every available option—including transfers to like-minded partner organizations—we ensure that every animal has the best possible chance at a future filled with love.
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and our team is here to help you make a perfect, lifelong match. When you adopt from us, your new companion comes prepared for life with preliminary vaccinations, microchipping, and spay/neuter services already completed. We encourage you to ask our staff questions about behavior, training, and introductions so you feel fully supported as you welcome your new family member home.
Are you ready to find your perfect companion? We invite you to explore our current list of adoptable dogs and cats online or visit our shelter to meet the animals waiting for their second chances. Together, we can create a better life for them, starting with you.
