Our Mission

Dirk’s Fund is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding loving forever homes for dogs in need. We believe every rescue dog deserves a happy ending and a family to call their own.

A Legacy of Love

Our story began in the 1980s when founders Bob and Ona Tillay started rescuing dogs after helping a Golden Retriever named Jenny. Named after a Great Pyrenees who needed life-saving surgery, Dirk’s Fund has grown from a personal mission into a devoted community effort to help animals thrive.

Our Care Model

Located in Pacific, Missouri, our facility features comfortable indoor and outdoor pens, along with five spacious yards for our residents to play. Our dedicated volunteers provide care 365 days a year, ensuring every dog receives comprehensive medical attention—including vaccinations, spaying or neutering, and thorough health screenings—before they are ready for adoption.

We are deeply committed to finding the right fit for both our dogs and our adopters. Our process includes an application, a meet-and-greet at our shelter, and a home visit to ensure a lifetime of happiness for your new companion. We take great pride in getting to know each individual dog so we can help create meaningful, lasting partnerships.
