The Humane Society of Summit County serves our community by caring and advocating for vulnerable animals and enriching the lives of pets and people. We are dedicated to creating a more compassionate and humane community for every animal.
A Haven for Second Chances
As the only local, non-profit organization in Summit County dedicated to rescuing animals that are victims of abuse, neglect, and abandonment, we provide a safe harbor for those in need. We are a no-time-limit shelter, meaning we do not euthanize for time or space; every medically and behaviorally healthy animal stays with us until they find their perfect family.
Our Care Model
We combine high-quality shelter care with an expansive foster network to ensure our animals thrive. By placing young, sick, or injured animals in temporary foster homes, we reduce stress and allow them to grow stronger in a loving environment, supported by our staff with all necessary supplies and medical care.
Connecting Pets and People
Adoption is the start of a joyful partnership, and we are here to ensure a smooth transition for both you and your new friend. Before they meet you, our dogs receive temperament assessments from our professional trainers, and all pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered to ensure they are ready to become a cherished family member.
