The Central Missouri Humane Society is devoted to promoting the well-being of companion animals and placing pets with people. We envision a future where no pet in mid-Missouri is homeless, abused, or neglected.
Since our formation in 1943, we have worked tirelessly to serve our community and its animals. From our early days on Creasy Springs Road to our current facility at 616 Big Bear Blvd, we have grown into a dedicated resource for thousands of animals each year.
We are a private, independent organization that relies on the kindness of our community. Our care model is a blend of dedicated on-site shelter staff and an incredible network of over 100 foster homes, which allows us to expand our capacity and provide loving environments for animals waiting for their forever homes. Together with 300 volunteers and a professional veterinary team, we work daily to ensure every animal receives the attention they deserve.
Adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment, and we are here to nurture that journey from your first visit to your new beginning. We prioritize thoughtful matches to ensure that each pet finds a lifestyle that suits their unique personality and needs. When you adopt, your new best friend comes fully vetted, microchipped, and ready to be part of your family.
Are you ready to meet your new companion? We invite you to browse our available animals on our website or join us for a visit at our shelter. Whether you choose to adopt, foster, or donate, you are helping us continue our mission of love and care for the pets who enrich our lives every day.
