Our Mission
The Town of Saugerties Animal Shelter is dedicated to providing compassionate care for animals in need and connecting them with loving forever homes. We are committed to maintaining a safe, supportive environment for every pet that enters our care.
Our Story
Our current facility, an repurposed equipment garage located behind the town Transfer Station, has served as a shelter for nearly 40 years. To ensure we continue to meet evolving standards of animal care, the Saugerties Animal Welfare Fund was established in 2018 to lead the efforts in building a new, modern facility that will better serve our animal residents.
Our Commitment to Care
As a non-open intake facility, we do not euthanize animals to create space, ensuring each resident receives the time and attention they deserve. Our team is focused on providing thorough vetting and daily care, ensuring every animal is healthy and prepared for their next chapter.
