At Second Chance, we are dedicated to advancing and supporting the relationships between people and their companion pets through the acts of rescue, adoption, and education. We believe every companion animal deserves to be wanted, cared for, and cherished.
Our Story
Founded in 1985 as a privately-funded organization, we have grown into mid-Missouri's largest animal rescue group. We take pride in our long history of matching countless pets with their perfect, loving families.
A Different Kind of Rescue
We operate a unique rescue model where the majority of our dogs and over 70% of our cats reside in dedicated foster homes throughout the local area. While we maintain a 6,000 square-foot facility in Boonville—featuring our spacious 'Kitty Kondos'—our foster-based approach allows animals to learn how to be part of a family before they move to their forever homes. Throughout our process, we prioritize the highest standards of medical care, socialization, and training for every animal in our care.
