Our Mission
The Kent County Animal Shelter is dedicated to supporting the people and companion animals of our community through compassionate care, community resources, and professional education. We strive to create a neighborhood where every animal is respected and valued.
The Why
Our work is rooted in the belief that pets are family, and we are here to provide temporary care and shelter for those in need. By providing essential services and outreach, we aim to reduce pet overpopulation and keep families and their companions together whenever possible.
The How
Operating from our facility at 740 Fuller Avenue NE in Grand Rapids, we provide a safe, temporary environment for lost, unwanted, and abused animals. Our team works diligently to ensure that every animal in our care receives professional attention while they await their next chapter. We also collaborate closely with the Kent County Sheriff's Department to uphold animal welfare standards through Animal Control services.
