Our Mission
Benld Adopt-A-Pet is a dedicated non-profit, no-kill animal shelter with a simple, heartfelt mission: to rescue abandoned and abused pets and help them find their perfect forever homes. Since 1983, we have been committed to providing a safe, comfortable haven for homeless cats and dogs, ensuring every animal receives the love and quality care they deserve.
A Legacy of Compassion
Our journey began over 40 years ago when founders Lorraine and Marvin Little transformed their own home into a sanctuary for strays. Today, that legacy continues through the hard work of our dedicated Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers who believe that every life is precious. We take pride in our history of finding loving homes for more than 30,000 animals.
How We Care
We operate a fully equipped, state-inspected facility in Benld, Illinois, where our animals receive expert medical attention, including on-site spay and neuter procedures and dental care. Beyond our walls, we maintain a vibrant foster program and host mobile adoption events to reach even more families across our community. Whether an animal is with us for a short time or becomes a long-term resident in our Helpful Hearts program, they receive constant care, enrichment, and socialization.
