The Yucaipa Valley Animal Placement Society (YAPS) is a dedicated no-kill, nonprofit animal rescue committed to providing a temporary, safe haven for dogs and cats until they can find their permanent, loving forever homes. We believe every animal deserves a second chance and the dignity of compassionate, quality care.
Our History and Community
Our journey began in 1957 when Betty Martines rescued a single stray dog, sparking a movement that has saved thousands of lives over the past seven decades. Incorporated in 1973, YAPS has remained a vital pillar of the Yucaipa community, operating a 13th Street facility made possible through the generosity of the City of Yucaipa and our dedicated supporters.
How We Care for Our Animals
Operating as a no-kill facility, we focus on rescue, care, and responsible stewardship while prioritizing animals in danger of euthanasia. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers works tirelessly to provide medical care, enrichment, and a nurturing environment for every pet under our roof.
