The Milo Foundation is dedicated to rescuing adoptable dogs and cats from high-kill animal shelters and finding them loving, lifelong homes. We are a proud 501(c)(3) no-kill organization that provides a second chance for homeless pets throughout California.
Our story began in 1994, inspired by a remarkable Australian Shepherd named Milo. Despite being born deaf and blind, Milo lived a joyful life, proving that every animal deserves a chance to thrive. This spirit drives our work as we continue to rescue and rehabilitate thousands of animals each year.
We operate through a robust, multi-faceted rescue system, including our Milo Point Richmond Adoption Center and our expansive 330-acre Sanctuary in Mendocino County. Our pets receive comprehensive veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, and microchipping, ensuring they are healthy and ready for their new beginnings. We also rely on a dedicated network of foster parents who provide vital one-on-one time, helping our animals build the confidence and routine they need for success in a permanent home.
At Milo, we are committed to making the perfect match for both you and your potential new 4-legged family member. We encourage you to read our pet bios carefully and complete an adoption application to help our team facilitate a smooth, thoughtful transition. We believe that adopting a pet is a partnership that creates lasting, meaningful bonds.
We invite you to visit us at our Point Richmond Adoption Center, where no appointment is necessary during open hours. You can also make a difference by exploring our volunteer opportunities, becoming a foster parent, or supporting our sanctuary animals with a donation. Together, we can help save lives and ensure every pet finds the loving home they deserve.
