Our mission at the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley is to provide safe shelter for all lost, mistreated, and abandoned animals within the Mesilla Valley and surrounding communities. We are dedicated to placing every animal into a safe, loving, and permanent home whenever possible.
Established in August 2008, the ASCMV was formed through a joint powers agreement between the City of Las Cruces and Doña Ana County to operate a regional animal shelter. As the only open-admission municipal animal shelter in our area, we serve a vital role in our community by supporting both animals in need and the families who love them.
We believe in providing the highest standards of humane care and husbandry by upholding the internationally recognized Five Freedoms of animal welfare. Our facility is supported by a robust network of volunteers and foster families who provide extra love, socialization, and comfort to animals while they wait for their forever homes. Whether it is through specialized kitten care or helping dogs find a break from the kennel, our team works tirelessly to ensure each animal’s well-being.
Adopting from the ASCMV is more than just bringing home a pet; it is about finding a companion who is ready for a new beginning. We focus on responsible pet ownership through education and outreach, ensuring that both you and your new family member are set up for a lifetime of joy together. Every adoption is a partnership that creates a lasting, positive change for our community's animals.
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to view our adoptable animals online or visit our facility in Las Cruces. If you are not in a position to adopt, you can also support our mission by volunteering your time or becoming a foster parent to a pet in need today.
