The Somerset-Pulaski County Humane Society is dedicated to preventing animal cruelty, providing community education, and promoting vital spay/neuter programs. We turn our convictions into action through tireless animal advocacy and rescue work across Pulaski and surrounding counties.
Our Story
Founded in June 1989, we identified a critical need for local, non-profit animal rescue and have been serving our community ever since. From our early days at the county fairgrounds to establishing our own facility on Chris Way, our journey reflects a deep, long-standing commitment to improving the lives of our local animals.
Our Approach to Care
We are a 100% volunteer-run organization that operates primarily through a loving foster network rather than a traditional shelter facility. By welcoming animals into foster homes, we ensure every rescue receives essential socialization, health care, and the comfort of a family environment. This foster-based model allows us to prioritize the physical and emotional well-being of every pet in our care.
