Effingham Animal Rescue Sanctuary (E.A.R.S.) is dedicated to reducing the number of animals euthanized in our community through education, promotion of responsible pet ownership, and providing a loving, temporary bridge to permanent homes.
Organized in January 2010 by passionate volunteers, EARS was born from the belief that our community could achieve a no-kill standard. Now, more than a decade later, through the incredible support of local residents and dedicated partners, we are proud to see that vision realized as Effingham County stands as a no-kill community.
We are a 100% foster-based sanctuary, which means we do not have a traditional physical shelter facility. Instead, every animal in our care lives in a foster home, receiving personalized attention, love, and care from foster parents until they find their perfect match. This unique model allows us to focus on the individual needs of every cat and dog while they wait for their forever families.
We believe that every adoption is a special beginning, and our priority is placing each pet in a home that is the perfect match for their personality. Our pets are fully vetted, microchipped, and provided with necessary medical care before adoption, ensuring they are healthy and ready to join your family. When you adopt from EARS, you are not just getting a pet; you are gaining a companion who has been nurtured by our dedicated volunteer community.
We rely entirely on the kindness of our neighbors to keep saving lives. We invite you to view our adoptable pets, learn about our volunteer and foster opportunities, or join us at our upcoming community events. Whether you are ready to adopt, donate, or volunteer, you can make a meaningful difference for local animals today.
