Our Mission
The Delta Animal Shelter is dedicated to providing compassionate, direct care to the animals of Delta County while working to find every pet a loving, forever home. We strive to create positive outcomes for the hundreds of animals that come through our doors each year.
Our Story
Our shelter’s journey began in 2011 when the county sheriff’s department was forced to close the facility due to budget cuts. To ensure no animal would be left without a safe harbor, a dedicated group known as the Delta Area Animal Society stepped in to take over operations. Today, we are proud to be the county’s only animal shelter, serving as a private, non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
How We Care
As an open-admission shelter, we turn no animal away, providing safety, nutrition, and medical attention to every creature in need. Our facility offers a warm, welcoming environment where pets enjoy soft blankets, engaging toys, and essential socialization time with our caring staff and volunteers. From our dedicated kennel and cattery caretakers to our foster parents, our team works tirelessly to ensure each animal receives the quality care they deserve.
