At the Contra Costa Humane Society, we are dedicated to improving the quality of life for dogs and cats in our community. Our vision is a world where all animals are cared for, respected, and loved.
Established in 1991 through the merger of two long-standing local welfare groups, we have been a pillar of support for our neighbors for over three decades. We operate as an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit and are entirely funded through the generous support of our community, grants, and fundraising efforts.
We pride ourselves on a compassionate approach to animal care, utilizing both our Kitty Corner facility and a dedicated network of foster homes. By raising animals in home environments, we ensure our rescues are socialized, loved, and ready to thrive when they meet their new families. Our space also includes specialized areas for hospice care and kittens, ensuring every animal receives the individualized attention they deserve.
We believe that adoption is a joyful, lifelong partnership, and we are committed to helping you find an animal whose temperament matches your unique lifestyle. Because we know our animals so well, we provide the guidance needed to ensure a successful match for both you and your new furry family member. Our team is here to support you in making a decision that brings years of companionship and happiness.
Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in fostering a life, or looking for ways to volunteer, there are many ways to connect with our mission. We invite you to explore our available adoptable pets, join us for our open adoption hours at our Pleasant Hill location, or sign up for our newsletter to stay updated on how you can help us save lives.
