A Legacy of Compassion
Founded in 1888, the Kansas Humane Society has spent over a century helping abandoned and homeless animals find the love they deserve. Today, as Wichita’s largest privately funded, nonprofit animal shelter, we continue to provide care, comfort, and hope to animals in need, entirely independent of federal, state, or local tax dollars.
Our Care Model
Located on the Murfin Animal Care Campus, our facility is designed to serve the community through a variety of supportive services. We provide comprehensive care for the animals in our shelter, including health evaluations, vaccinations, and spay/neuter surgeries to ensure every pet is ready for their next chapter. By offering low-cost veterinary clinics, education, and rehoming support, we act as a partner to all pet owners in our region.
