Our Mission
Misty Eyes Animal Center is dedicated to ending the needless euthanasia of domesticated pets throughout Indiana, reducing owner surrenders, and teaching responsible pet ownership. We operate with a deep commitment to kindness, integrity, and professionalism in everything we do.
How It All Began
Founded in October 2011 by Renee Harlor and Cherie Fox, our organization was born from a desire to take direct action to help animals in Hendricks County. We identified a critical void in our local community and joined forces to create a sustainable, 100% volunteer-run rescue that values teamwork and compassionate action.
Our Care Model
We are a foster-based rescue, meaning the majority of our animals live in loving foster homes while they wait for their forever families. To supplement this, we operate the Misty Eyes Animal Center and Kitty City, where potential adopters can meet our residents during weekend hours. This unique hybrid approach allows us to provide a high standard of care while we continue to develop our permanent facility in phases.
