Our Mission
The Animal Refuge Center is dedicated to providing a safe, compassionate, and no-kill environment for homeless animals while actively working to find every pet their perfect forever home.
Our History and Community
Since 1989, we have proudly served the Hardin County, Kentucky area, growing from a simple barn shelter into a resilient, community-focused organization. Despite facing challenges like fire and floods, our commitment to saving lives remains steadfast, fueled by the unwavering support of our dedicated volunteers and neighbors.
Our Care Model
We operate a unique, cageless no-kill facility in a renovated ranch-style house in Vine Grove, where we provide a sanctuary for at least 130 cats and 15 dogs at any given time. Our animals live in a communal setting, which helps them socialize and acclimate to human interaction, making them well-prepared for their transition to a new family.

Adoption is the joyful beginning of a new chapter, and we believe in thoughtful, intentional matching to ensure long-term happiness for both you and your new companion. Because we prioritize the health and wellbeing of our animals, every pet we adopt out is spayed or neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated to ensure they are ready to thrive in their new home.
