Welcome to the National Mill Dog Rescue (NMDR), a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Peyton, Colorado. At NMDR, our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome discarded breeding dogs, while also educating the general public about the harsh realities of the commercial dog breeding industry. Founded in February 2007 by Theresa Strader in honor of a courageous Italian Greyhound named Lily, NMDR strives to give a voice to mill dogs across the nation. We are driven by the belief that every dog deserves a second chance at a loving and fulfilling life. Our values center around compassion, resilience, and advocacy. We are committed to providing extensive medical care and behavioral support for our rescued dogs, many of whom require significant treatment after being rescued from neglectful environments. This care includes vaccinations, spay/neuter procedures, and recovery from chronic health conditions. At NMDR, we believe that adopting a dog is more than just gaining a pet; it's about forging a meaningful and lasting bond. Our structured adoption process places a strong emphasis on finding loving, responsible, and committed homes for our dogs. We host an application and interview process to ensure that each match is in the best interest of both the pet and the family. We also offer opportunities to get involved beyond adoption. Interested individuals can foster dogs, volunteer, or contribute to our mission through donations.
