The Lowell Humane Society is dedicated to providing shelter, preventing cruelty to animals, and advocating for their welfare. Through compassionate care and community education, we strive to improve the quality of life for both animals and the people who love them.
Our History
Founded in 1873, we are proud to be one of the oldest humane organizations in Massachusetts. For over 150 years, our community has sustained our work, allowing us to operate as a private, non-profit shelter that relies entirely on the generosity of individuals, businesses, and foundations.

We provide a safe, nurturing environment for homeless and distressed animals, whether they are waiting in our facility or thriving in our dedicated foster homes.
