The Drumheller & District Humane Society is dedicated to providing compassionate care for animals in need while advancing animal welfare through education, advocacy, and community support. Our vision is a humane community where all animals are respected, valued, and given the care they deserve.
Our organization is powered by a team of dedicated, compassionate individuals, ranging from our hands-on staff and volunteers to our Board of Directors. As a community-focused group that receives no government or city funding, we rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters and the power of our fundraising efforts to provide essential care for the animals in our shelter.
We operate out of our shelter at 31 Hygrade Crescent, where we care for our resident animals and coordinate with foster homes to provide a safe, temporary haven. Our commitment to animal welfare extends beyond our facility through programs like our barrier-free pet food bank and a spay and neuter assistance fund designed to reduce financial barriers for local pet owners. Whether we are nursing a kitten to health or preparing a long-term resident for their forever home, our focus remains on providing individual attention and medical support to every animal in our care.
Finding the perfect match is a joyful partnership, and we are committed to placing animals in safe, stable, and permanent homes. Our adoption process involves a thoughtful review by our committee to ensure that each placement is the right fit for both the animal and your family. We invite you to visit our shelter or reach out to our team to learn more about the wonderful cats and dogs currently waiting to meet you.
Are you ready to find your new best friend? We encourage you to browse our available animals on our website, fill out an application, or visit us at our Drumheller location during our operating hours. Your support through adoption or community involvement helps us continue our mission of creating happy endings for animals in need.
