Animal Welfare Society exists to serve as the safety net for pets through adoptions, affordable services, and resources, ensuring that pets and their families can stay together and thrive. We believe that healthy people and pets are essential for building a stronger, more compassionate community.
Our History and Purpose
Founded in 1967 as a private 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we are located on a beautiful 40-acre campus in Kennebunk, Maine. For over 50 years, we have served as a regional leader in progressive animal welfare, dedicated to championing the vital human-animal bond.
How We Care
Our state-of-the-art, Fear-Free Adoption Center provides safe, secure, and calm accommodations for dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and small mammals. We pride ourselves on a compassionate approach, supported by 300+ dedicated foster families and staff, who work tirelessly to ensure every animal feels safe and secure while awaiting their forever home.
