Our Mission
The Tri-Lakes Humane Society is a dedicated non-profit organization that provides shelter for lost, abandoned, and unwanted animals while actively seeking loving, permanent homes for them. We are committed to the humane treatment of every animal in our care, advocating for their well-being and supporting the bond between pets and our community.
A History of Compassion
Our journey began in 1978 when a group of neighbors united to provide foster homes and find families for local stray animals. After a decade of fundraising, we opened our shelter facility in 1988, and we have been evolving ever since. Today, we continue to improve our Reeds Spring home, ensuring that the thousands of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens who pass through our doors receive the quality care they deserve.
How We Help
We are proud to serve as a valuable temporary home for nearly 1,000 animals each year, relying on the generous support of our community rather than federal or state funding. Our shelter features dedicated spaces for intake, isolation, and play, as well as a volunteer-led walking path. We go beyond our walls by transporting animals to area businesses to showcase our furry orphans, helping us maintain an adoption rate more than three times the national average.
