The Sanilac County Humane Society is dedicated to providing essential shelter and compassionate medical care for homeless animals in our community. We strive to create lasting, permanent placements for pets while promoting animal welfare through education and outreach.

As the only independent No-Kill shelter in the Thumb of Michigan, we take our responsibility to our animals seriously. Every year, we provide a safe haven for more than 1,200 animals, ensuring they receive the specialized care they need while they wait for their forever homes.
How We Operate
We function as a private, non-profit agency, and our life-saving work is made possible entirely through the generosity of our supporters. By focusing on shelter, medical support, and accessible spay/neuter programs, we reduce the number of homeless pets in our region. Our shelter is operated by a dedicated team of volunteers and community supporters who believe every animal deserves a second chance.
