The Humane Society of the Palouse is dedicated to ensuring the humane treatment, welfare, and safety of companion animals throughout Moscow and Latah County. We are committed to giving every animal in our care a second chance at a happy, healthy life.
Founded in 1978, our organization has spent over 45 years working to unite pets with their forever families. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit that strives to promote responsible pet ownership, minimize euthanasia, and provide lifesaving support through programs like our pet food pantry and spay/neuter assistance.
As a no-kill, limited-admission shelter, we prioritize the physical and mental well-being of every animal under our roof. By adhering to the Five Freedoms of animal care, our staff works to ensure that our facility serves as a safe, comfortable, and temporary home while our residents await their perfect match. We believe in being transparent in our relationships and authentic in our promise to protect those in our care.
We believe that a successful adoption is built on thoughtful matching. Our process is designed to help your family and our animals find a lifelong, secure, and loving partnership. From the moment you meet a potential companion, our team is here to provide guidance, medical history, and support to ensure everyone feels confident and prepared for the transition.
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to visit our facility in Moscow to view our adoptable pets or explore our upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of the animals who need us most.
