Animal Aid of Tulsa is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to saving sick, injured, and abused stray dogs and cats in Tulsa and the surrounding communities. We strive to help pets find loving homes while encouraging respect and awareness for the rights of all companion animals.
Founded in 1961 by Helen Dawson, our organization has been a steadfast advocate for Tulsa's animals for over six decades. We remain the only organization in the area that stands ready to take in sick or injured strays in need of emergency care, relying entirely on the generosity of our supporters and the proceeds from our thrift store to fuel our mission.
We believe every animal deserves a comfortable, stable environment while they recover and prepare for their forever homes. Because we do not house animals at our office or thrift store, our pets live in loving foster homes, where they receive personalized care and observation. This foster-based model allows us to learn each animal's unique personality, helping us ensure a perfect match for your family.
Adopting a pet is a joyful, life-changing partnership, and we take great care to ensure every animal finds the right home. Our thorough adoption process includes personal and veterinary references and a two-week trial period to guarantee a lasting, successful bond. We are committed to creating matches that bring happiness to both the animal and their new human companions.
Whether you are ready to welcome a new furry friend into your home or want to support our life-saving work, there are many ways to get involved. Browse our currently available pets, learn more about our foster program, or visit us at our thrift store to help make a difference in our community today.
