The Humane Society of Walden is a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit safe haven committed to rescuing and rehoming stray and abandoned cats and dogs. We believe that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment, proper care, respect, and a safe, comfortable shelter.
Since our founding in 1974, we have provided over 50 years of care, compassion, and second chances to animals in need. We serve as a vital community resource for Walden and the surrounding towns, including Montgomery, Crawford, Shawangunk, and Mamakating.
As a no-kill shelter, we provide individualized care for every animal that comes through our doors, supported by our staff, volunteers, and community partners. We rely on a blend of shelter-based care and dedicated foster heroes who provide essential temporary homes for kittens, hospice cases, and animals in need of extra recovery time.
We are deeply committed to placing our animals into loving, responsible homes where they can truly thrive. Our thoughtful, multi-step adoption process is designed to ensure each pet is matched perfectly with your lifestyle, environment, and readiness for a long-term commitment. We believe that finding your new best friend should be a joyful, well-supported partnership that brings love and happiness into your home for years to come.
